Roberta Piket

Jazz pianist/composer Roberta Piket was created in Brooklyn, NY in 1966; the girl of Viennese conductor and composer Frederick Piket, she went to the New Britain Conservatory but primarily pursued a profession in computer anatomist, quitting following a year to come back to music. A protege of pianist Richie Beirach, Piket spent 2 yrs using the all-female big music group Diva, and in 1993 positioned second within the International Thelonious Monk-BMI Composers’ Competition; after documenting with performers including Lionel Hampton, the Jamie Baum Quartet and Stephan Crump, she produced her debut being a head in 1997 with Unbroken Range. Live on the Blue Take note followed 2 yrs later.
