Robert Planquette

Planquette was a France composer and pianist who all studied for a short while on the Paris Conservatoire. While he was there he gained a first award for solfege in 1867 another award for piano in 1868. He was compelled to produce a living by playing in cafes and composing music for the cafe-concerts. It had been during this time period that provided Planquette with the chance to create his initial operetta (out of around twenty) “Les cloches de Corneville.” Definitely this is his best structure including the well-known piece `The Star from the Bells’. Most of his functions showed indicators of careful workmanship. He composed several operettas for British viewers including “Rip vehicle Winkle” and “Nell Gwynne.” Among Planquette’s additional well-known functions was a march that continuing to appeal towards the French general public “Sambre-et-Meuses.”
