Robert Glasper Experiment

A quartet centered around jazz pianist Robert Glasper, the Robert Glasper Test originally featured bassist Derrick Hodge, drummer Chris Dave (from your pianist’s acoustic trio), and Casey Benjamin on saxes and vocoder. They produced their debut using one fifty percent of Glasper’s two-disc Two times Booked for Blue Notice in ’09 2009. As the 1st fifty percent presented Glasper’s acoustic trio, the Test contrasted within the additional, incorporating components of neo-soul, hip-hop, and jazz-funk to their audio. The Experiment are also open to dealing with vocalists. On the second Compact disc — and initial stand-alone work — Dark Radio, they caused everyone from vocalists Bilal, Ledisi, Erykah Badu, and Lalah Hathaway to rappers Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, and Shafiq Husayn, to mention several. Dark Radio was released in Feb of 2012, also on Blue Be aware. In 2013, the Robert Glasper Test (today including Hodge and Benjamin with drummer Tag Colenburg) returned using their similarly star-studded sophomore record, Dark Radio 2. The music group toured continuously and internationally over another 2 yrs. Glasper came back to his first acoustic piano trio format to trim 2015’s Covered, documented live at Capitol Studios, and guested on Kendrick Lamar’s celebrated To Pimp a Butterfly. He also composed first music for and curated the soundtrack for Don Cheadle’s 2016 Mls Davis biopic, Mls Forward. The Robert Glasper Test returned towards the studio room in early 2016 using a different m.o. Rather than focusing on the pianist’s music or addresses, the quartet associates wrote and organized jointly in the studio room for the very first time. The causing ArtScience was released in September following the pre-release singles “Daily” and “Thinkin’ About You.”
