Robert E. Brown

Ethnomusicologist Robert E. Dark brown is widely acknowledged with coining the term “globe music” like a catchall for the melodies and rhythms indigenous to ethnicities beyond your industrialized Traditional western Hemisphere. Robert Edward Dark brown was created in Utica, NY, on Apr 18, 1927. After starting his education inside a one-room schoolhouse in close by Clinton, he later on discovered timpani, bass drum, dual bass, and cello, even though in senior high school created a dance music group dubbed the main one Meatball. After learning music theory and piano under George Budasheim in the Utica Conservatory, Dark brown offered a stint in the U.S. Navy, resuming his education at Ithaca University and Cornell University or college before generating a doctorate in ethnomusicology from UCLA, financing study for his dissertation, “The Mrdanga: A REPORT of Drumming in South India,” with both Fulbright and Ford Base grants or loans. In his old age, Dark brown annually stopped at Istanbul to oversee analysis of traditional Turkish arts and lifestyle, and regularly journeyed the world lecturing for the musical lifestyle of South India. He passed away at his house in La Mesa, CA, on November 29, 2005.
