Robert “Brother Ah” Northern

A rare jazz France horn participant and soloist, Robert North aka Sibling Ah was among the busiest program musicians from the ’50s and ’60s. He proved helpful and documented with many jazz stars, included in this Donald Byrd, John Coltrane, Gil Evans, Sunlight Ra, Gil Evans, McCoy Tyner, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, as well as the Jazz Composers Orchestra. He led some ensemble recordings as Sibling Ah through the ’70s in to the ’90s, including Sound Recognition (1974), Move Ever Onward (1975), Crucial to Nowhere (1983), Open up Sky (1986), and Special event! (1993). A few of these schedules have already been released or reissued on Compact disc, and Sibling Ah may also be noticed on recordings by Evans, Kirk, Ra, yet others.
