Robbers on High Street

Although Robbers on TRADITIONAL only started performing together and in public areas in 2002, singer/guitarist/keyboardist Ben Trokan and guitarist/singer Steve Mercado have been friends since their childhoods spent in Poughkeepsie, NY. After senior high school, Trokan shifted to NEW YORK and started jamming with drummer Tomer Danan while Mercado remained at home, obtaining together to try out with friend and bassist Jeremy Phillips. Ultimately, the four arrived together and began Robbers on TRADITIONAL, basing themselves in N.Con.C. In 2004 their debut launch, an EP entitled Good Lines, arrived on Scratchie/New Lines, adopted the next yr from the full-length Tree Town, which brought them evaluations to Spoon in addition to fellow New Yorkers the Strokes. In nov 2006 the music group, who at this time contains Trokan, Mercado, and Morgan Ruler, released an Internet-only five-song EP that included two songs using their upcoming 2007 recording, Grand Pets, and two through the Tree Town sessions, and a cover of Paul McCartney’s “Monkberry Moon Pleasure.”
