After two albums using the trio Up coming, RL released a solo career using record industry bigwig Clive Davis. The famous record exec authorized RL to his recently formed J Information label and released a debut recording, RL: Ements. The recording featured a couple of sure-shot singles — the Snoop Dogg-Lil’ Kim-Battlecat cooperation “Perform You Wanna Move” as well as the Jermaine Dupri-Erick Sermon cooperation “Got Me a Model” — and additional songs without big-name collaborators.
