Rip West

The 1960s Houston music group Rip Western world included high-schoolers Ray Turner (bass) and Dave Mitchell (lead guitar), both of whom would continue to maintain Josefus, which cut two early hard rock-heavy metal albums in 1970. Two undated demos documented by Rip Western world surfaced over the Josefus container set Dead Container. These are within a considerably lighter and even more psychedelic style compared to the music they performed in Josefus, with “Aristotle” displaying the influence from the past due Yardbirds and “Period for the Rainbow” sounding very much like past due-’60s United kingdom pop-psychedelia using its lilting melody and wah-wah guitars.
