Rikard Nordraak

Nordraak was mostly of the Norwegian composers who have didn’t come consuming Grieg although both became close friends in Nordraak’s 12 years. In Berlin, Nordraak analyzed piano with Kullak, structure with Kiel and in Copenhagen he analyzed with Gerlach. He fulfilled Lindemann and Bull in Christiania while learning with Magnus. With Grieg, Horneman and Matthison-Hansen Nordraak founded Euterpe in 1861, that was for the advertising of music by youthful Scandinavian composers. He made up the Norwegian nationwide anthem that was first performed on, may 17, 1864. Historically Nordraak is usually very important to his enthusiasm towards Norwegian folk music and nationalism and uplifting others from his nation to come back to folk styles. Musically his melodies had been simple constructed on triads and on diatonic scales; it is because Nordraak wanted unsullied lines and lucidity in his compositions.
