Rigmor Gustafsson

An award-winning jazz vocalist from Sweden with a global following, Rigmor Gustafsson has strong ties to america, where she launched her profession, in addition to Germany, where she recorded for the Work label, not forgetting her homeland, where she actually is a modern jazz icon. Furthermore to her studio room recordings and live shows, she’s a certified educator who trained at both Royal Academy and Royal University of Music in Stockholm to get a few years before her performing profession became a full-time occupation. Born on Apr 12, 1966, in Värmskog, Sweden, Gustafsson analyzed in the Royal University of Music in Stockholm from 1986 to 1991, having a jazz vocal main, and received a Grasp of Good Arts level in music education in 1992. Upon graduating, she started working as a specialist vocalist; moreover, she relocated to NEW YORK in 1993 and, furthermore to working like a vocalist, studied at the brand new School Jazz System. In 1994, during NEW YORK, she created the Rigmor Gustafsson Quintet (Tino Derado, piano; Gabriel Coburger, saxophones, flute; Hans Glawischnig, bass; Roland Schneider, drums) with whom she toured Germany in 1995 and once again in 1996. With her profession now firmly founded, she moved back again to Sweden in 1996, settling in Stockholm, where she trained for a few years, first in the Royal University of Music and the Royal Academy. Her 1st two albums — Within the Light of Day time (1996) and Strategy #46 (1998), both released by Prophone Information — featured these Rigmor Gustafsson Quintet and had been well received critically. In 1999 she created a fresh quintet of Swedish music artists with whom she documented her third recording, Rigmor Gustafsson (2000), live at Jazzclub Mosebacke in Stockholm. Within the years that adopted she toured thoroughly, traveling across the world, and she also made an appearance on television frequently like a live performer. In 2003 she authorized to the German label Take action for her 4th album, I’LL Await You. Some albums on Action implemented, including In your area (2004), On My Method for you (2006), and By itself together with you (2007). The last mentioned album, comprised completely of original music, was particularly effective, topping the Swedish jazz albums graph (and peaking at amount 15 on the entire Swedish albums graph) and earning her a 2007 Swedish Grammy Award (i.e., Grammi Prize) for Greatest Jazz Album.
