Alt-country/roots-rock singer-songwriter Rico Bell can be an accomplished multi-instrumentalist (taking part in acoustic guitar, accordion, melodion, harmonica, and keyboards), and a compelling storyteller whose good-natured laughter belies a darker worldview. Bell started documenting for the Bloodshot label with 1996’s The Come back of Rico Bell; he adopted it up with 1999’s Dark Part from the Mersey, which presented his backing device the Snakehandlers.
