Rick Fielding

Created in Montreal, Quebec, Rick Fielding dropped for the music of legends Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, and Expenses Monroe, and after several tries at a far more conventional living, took to being truly a full-time folk singer. Relocating to Toronto in 1969, Fielding quickly founded himself within the Canadian folk picture, becoming a modern of Tom Paxton, Ian and Silvia, and Gordon Lightfoot, amongst others. Being truly a masterful interpreter of modern and traditional forms — including nation, folk, traditional ballads, and also offering a stint within the Gangreen Kids, among Toronto’s first bluegrass organizations — Fielding can be an award earning songwriter, associated his clean baritone on electric guitar, banjo, mandolin, autoharp, and dobro. Having documented the well-received Lifeline for Folk Legacy in 1995, Fielding obtained a wider market while playing celebrations and folk night clubs in america. This One’s The Dreamer implemented in 1999 over the Borealis Documenting Firm label and was a pleasantly eclectic mixture of traditional and modern elements. Currently surviving in Ontario, Canada, Fielding works musical workshops and hosts the Acoustic Workshop radio present on CIUT-FM 85.5.
