Richard Wyands

An excellent pianist whose chord voicings certainly are a small reminiscent of Crimson Garland, Richard Wyands has spent the majority of his profession like a sideman. He began working in regional night clubs when he was 16, graduated from SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA State University, and gained encounter playing in the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Bay region. Wyands, who was simply a sideman on the few early times for Dream, spent time associated Ella Fitzgerald (1956) and Carmen McRae. He relocated to NY in 1958, where he used Roy Haynes, Charles Mingus (1959), Gigi Gryce’s quintet, Oliver Nelson, Etta Jones, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, and Gene Ammons, amongst others. Wyands was connected with Kenny Burrell, with whom he toured thoroughly during 1964-1977, and offers played with a great many other best music artists, including Freddie Hubbard, Zoot Sims, Frank Foster, the Illinois Jacquet Big Music group, Benny Carter, Ernie Andrews, and Milt Hinton, amongst others. Richard Wyands in addition has headed his personal trios, but offers only had a small number of sessions like a leader so far, including a 1978 day for Storyville and classes for DIW (1992) and Criss Mix (1995).
