Richard Tabnik

Tabnik is really a lyrically inclined altoist, affected greatly by the technique and music from the past due pianist/composer/educator Lennie Tristano. He performed his 1st jazz gigs within the Providence, RI, music group of guitarist Tom Dark brown. From 1970-1972, Tabnik analyzed with Tristano’s main acolyte, Lee Konitz. He performed business lead alto in Frank Foster’s big music group at the Condition University of NY at Buffalo from 1975-1979. Throughout that period, he also performed within the federally funded big music group of Allen Tinney. From 1979 to 1983, he examined beneath the eminent saxophone instructor Joe Allard; concurrently, he begun to research with pianist Connie Crothers, who become his ideal impact. With Crothers, Tabnik documented Duo Aspect in 1987. In the first ’90s, Tabnik documented many times, both being a single saxophonist and in rings that included drummer Carol Tristano, Lennie’s little girl. Other Tabnik affiliates have got included bassists Calvin Hill and Cameron Dark brown, guitarist Andy Fite, and tenor saxophonist Lenny Popkin.
