The drummer for California’s first browse music group, the Bel-Airs, Richard Delvy (born Richard Delvecchio) continued to lead an identical group, the Challengers, following the group’s separation in 1961. Created with ex-Bel-Air keyboardist Jim Roberts, the Challengers brought the browse music trend to a fresh height, selling greater than a one fourth of the million copies of the debut album, SEARCHING the planet, in 1963.
