Richard Boothby

Richard Boothby performs viola da gamba music from the center Ages for this and is for the forefront of expanding the modern repertoire for the instrument. He researched efficiency practice with Nikolaus Harnoncourt in Salzburg, after that founded the Purcell Quartet in 1984. In 1985, he became a founding person in the viol consort Fretwork. He offers toured European countries, Japan, and america and has produced over 50 recordings for Hyperion, Chandos, Virgin Classics, and Harmonia Mundi. Boothby can be a teacher of viola da gamba in the Royal University of Music in London and teacher of both Baroque cello and viola da gamba in the Welsh University of Music and Crisis.
