Rhyton

Rhyton are an improvisational psych trio from Brooklyn. After creating their sound like a live music group, Dave Shuford (D. Charles Speer & the Helix, No-Neck Blues Music group), Jimy SeiTang (Psychic Ills), and Spencer Herbst (Matta Llama, Communications) documented their debut full-length in mere three times. Rhyton (the recording) was offered in 2011 by Thrill Jockey in a restricted run, with just 500 copies from the LP and 200 homemade, hand-numbered Compact disc copies released. A 2012 recording, The Emerald Tablet, noticed launch on Three Lobed Recordings, plus they came back in 2014 with Kykeon, another recording for Thrill Jockey. Once again, these editions had been purely limited and included hand-assembled product packaging. MIE Music released Rhyton’s 2015 LP, Navigating by Starlight, which contains two side-long compositions. This is adopted in 2016 by Redshift, the group’s third recording for Excitement Jockey.
