A good, if derivative, spirit vocalist, Rhetta Hughes seemed about prepared to transfer to the limelight in 1969, when her remake from the Doorways’ “Light My Fireplace” produced the R&B Best 40. But she under no circumstances suffered any momentum, with another tune “Angel Man” flopping for Aria, and Hughes was shortly back for the supper membership circuit, starting for such comedians as Expenses Cosby.
