Having become together in 1997 following the breakup of Virginia Creeper, the brand new Hydra have already been playing their self-proclaimed make of “nonchalant rock and roll” with their native of Seattle. Having a shuffling lineup that adjustments at virtually every practice, their staff over time offers included Bart Clear, Joe Chilcote, Jay Chilcote, Benjamin Gibbard, Pepe, Chris Walla, Allisyn Levy, Robbie Skrocki, and Herbert Berkel. Influenced by Talking Mind, Camper Vehicle Beethoven, and Blonde Redhead, the Hydra have discovered themselves positioned among indie rock and roll mainstays Pavement and Sebadoh upon the discharge of the 1998 debut divide EP with Loss of life Cab for Cutie. Elsinor Information ultimately released the Hydra’s initial full-length, Ratcheting Down the Melancholic Afterbeat, in 1999. Their second record, The Antiphony, arrived the following season.
