Revl9n

Swedish trio Revlon 9 certainly are a Scandinavian addition to the post-millennial electroclash/fresh wave revival retro-futurist picture, updating the synth rock from the past due ’70s and early ’80s having a magpie-like contemporary attitude which includes influences which range from Giorgio Moroder-style Euro-disco towards the clattering primitivism from the zero wave rings. Maria Eilersen (vocals and acoustic guitar), Asa Cerderqvist (vocals and synthesizer), and Nandor Hegedüs (previous lead singer from the Swedish pop group Brick, right here playing bass) shaped Revlon 9 in 1998, originally having a 4th member playing drums. Once the drummer remaining, the rest of the trio integrated a drum machine in to the lineup and started moving into a far more digital, dance-oriented design. Three vinyl fabric singles adopted on little Scandinavian brands: 1999’s “On the top,” 2000’s “Sharks,” and 2003’s “Somebody AS IF YOU,” an early on edition of a music that would turn into a highlight of the first album. Beginning in 2004, the trio transformed the spelling of its name to Revl9n, although it’s still pronounced “Revlon Nine.” (It could be assumed this is a sop towards the multinational makeup company.) Pursuing three even more buzz-building singles in 2004 and 2005, “United,” “Strolling Devices,” and the brand new edition of “Somebody AS IF YOU,” Revl9n authorized to WEA International for his or her self-titled debut recording, released in 2006.
