After a gathering with Albert Collins in 1969, Neil Downs knew that he wished to devote his lifetime to music. Nicknaming himself “Reverend” Neil Downs, he started to perform blues and rock and roll guitar across the Seattle region. After collaborating with performers like Henry McCullough (Paul McCartney, Joe Cocker) and Jerry Scheff (Elvis Presley, Elvis Costello), aswell as playing blues-based rock and roll for nearly 30 years, he finally sat right down to record American Friend. Composed of material he previously been focusing on for years, it had been his first proper record, and he noticed its discharge in 1999. After touring to get American Friend, he sat right down to record with Lahna Deering, a 19-year-old guitarist from Alaska who researched out the Reverend for creation assist in 2001.
