Retro Stefson

Hailing from Reykjavik, Retro Stefson became perhaps one of the most prominent rings to emerge from Iceland in the first 21st hundred years. The band begun to make music jointly in 2006 when brothers Unnsteinn and Logi Stefánsson became a member of forces with college close friends Þórður Jörundsson, Jon Seljeseth, Þorbjörg Gunnarsdóttir, Haraldur Stefánsson, and Gylfi Sigurðsson, in an effort to gain entry to an area youth talent present. Their initial record, Montana, arrived in 2008; it had been mainly an indie pop record using a disco and tropical twist. In the same calendar year they came out at the esteemed Iceland Airwaves celebration, producing a name for themselves within their house country along the way. The sophomore record, Kimbabwe, premiered this year 2010 in the Icelandic label Kimi Information and in European countries on Vertigo Information. This atypical pop record infused even more influences to their very own sound including browse rock and roll, Latin, and Afro-funk, and included the singles “Kimba” and “Mama Angola.” They received worldwide acclaim because of their self-titled third record including the monitors “Shine,” “She Stated,” and “Queen” — all three achieving number one in the Icelandic singles graphs. The band once more developed their audio using a heavier usage of synths and consumer electronics and well refined production.
