Rene McLean

The son of altoist Jackie McLean, René studied alto along with his father and Sonny Rollins from age nine. He performed baritone and later on alto with Tito Puente for 3 years in the first ’70s and in addition caused Sam Streams, Lionel Hampton, and along with his dad within the Cosmic Brotherhood. McLean performed in the middle-’70s inside a quintet with Woody Shaw and Louis Hayes, began touring with Hugh Masekela in 1978, resolved in South Africa in 1985, led his personal group, and in the past due ’80s, recorded along with his dad for Triloka. Rene McLean in addition has led his personal albums for SteepleChase (1975) and Triloka (1993).
