Renato Teixeira

Renato Teixeira can be an urban composer who discovered rather past due the bucolic enchantments from the “caipira” (hillbilly) world, endeavoring to bring the genre to a more substantial audience. His melody “Romaria” was documented by Elis Regina, Richard Clayderman, Chitãozinho e Xororó, Sérgio Reis, Leandro e Leonardo, Inezita Barroso, Fábio Júnior, and several other top performers. “Sina de Violeiro” (re-recorded by Sérgio Reis) and “Tocando em Frente” (with Almir Sater), though much less popular, may also be expressive. Teixeira provides documented over 16 single LPs and CDs, as well as the industrial achievement of Ao Vivo no Rio symbolized a major discovery within a metropolis generally indifferent towards the upcountry picture. In 1992, he received the Prêmio Clear award. Teixeira began to compose music at 14, in upstate São Paulo. Shifting to the administrative centre in 1967, his “Fatherá Maria” experienced within the III FMPB (Celebration of Brazilian Popular Music). For the reason that same calendar year, the melody was documented by Gal Costa; in following years, Clara Nunes, Sílvio César, and Teixeira also documented it. Still in 1967, he composed the valse “A Madrasta,” that was recorded another calendar year by Roberto Carlos, who provided it on the IV FMPB. “Marinheiro” experienced within the VII FIC (International Melody Festival). “Romaria,” a melody that translated into music and poetry the melancholy of a guy brought to the best city by drive, was penned in 1973 (the entire year in which he previously his initial LP released) and documented by Elis Regina four years afterwards, representing the consecration of the writer. Regina also documented another of Teixeira’s music, “Sentimental European union Fico,” for the same recording (Elis).
