b. c.1890, Britain, d. unknown time. Batten performed violin in several dance rings in London’s clubland in the 10s and 20s. Among these rings was one led by Bert Ralton, an American saxophonist who acquired travelled to London by method of Cuba after having initial established his popularity in Artwork Hickman’s music group. In the springtime of 1922, Bert Ralton And His Havana Music group became citizen at London’s Savoy Resort, properly amending its name towards the Savoy Havana Music group. Throughout the summer months of 1922 the music group broadcast regularly in the Savoy, the initial dance music group to truly have a regular every week radio broadcast in Britain. Aside from Batten, the music group also presented Rudy Vallee and Billy Mayerl. When Ralton remaining at end of yr, Batten required over as innovator.
