Crimson Rhodes was probably one of the most flexible steel guitarists in country music. Created Orville J. Rhodes in East Alston, IL, his mom taught him to try out the dobro when he was just five; at 15, he turned towards the lap metal guitar, utilizing a homemade stand. He performed his 1st professional gig alongside his stepfather before shifting to L.A. in 1960 to accomplish session function. Eight years later on, he was probably one of the most in-demand sessionmen within the Western Coast and used artists just like the Byrds. Rhodes and his music group performed in the Palomino in L.A. through the past due ’60s and done different Michael Nesmith classes, which resulted in occassional are a metal participant for the Monkees. He continued to be with Nesmith through both incarnations of the group, and continuing his session function through the entire ’70s, showing up with Wayne Taylor, John Phillips, the Carpenters, Carole Ruler, Chilli Willi & the Crimson CHILE PEPPERS, and Seals & Crofts. In 1995, he performed on Nesmith’s Tropical Campfires record and toured with him. Soon after he finished the tour, he dropped sick, succumbing to interstitial lung fibrosis on August 20, 1995.
