Slowcore clothing Recuerdo was formed in Peoria, IL, in 1997 by Jamie Drier, Tim Boniger, and Josh Bonati. Their debut on polish was included with a 7″ and break up 10″ for the neighborhood indie Silent Film Soundtracks. At this time, Drier departed to try out bass using the emo device Planes Recognised incorrectly as Celebrities. Boniger and Bonati continuing on, issuing the On the Empire EP in early 2000. The Meramac/Mahomet full-length (once again for SFS) adopted in 2003. The recording designated the addition of full-time drummer Corey Flanagan to Recuerdo, and shown a more concentrated fantasy pop sound.
