Recliner

San Francisco’s Recliner was shaped in the summertime of 2003 by guitarists Ward Evans and Kevin Seidel and drummer John Benson, most of whom have been users of Bay Region ska and surf music group the Swamis, and previous 3-Minute Globe bassist George Carney. Focusing on aggressive, harmony-laden acoustic guitar rock and roll, the quartet continues to be compared to rings just like the Pixies, Cheap Technique, Sociable Distortion, and Fugazi. The music group itself explains its design as the audio of “a smiling, well-dressed guy with a blade.” Their self-titled debut EP, Recliner, premiered in nov 2003 around the group’s personal label, Poison Pencil Information, and a full-length Compact disc, Make a pal, documented at John Vanderslice’s Small Telephone Studios, made an appearance on Poison Pencil in 2004.
