Raymond & Maria

The Swedish twee pop ensemble Raymond & Maria were a palpable force for the Scandinavian pop charts in the first 2000s. The group shaped in 2002 with Johan, Staffan, Per, Camilla, and lead vocalist Maria, naming themselves after an infamous nightclub in Stockholm; drummer Mårten became a member of a little afterwards. Armed with an audio that nodded towards the tongue-in-cheek pop sensibilities from the Cardigans and Hi there Saferide, the group released their initial record, Vi Ska Bara Leva Klart, in 2004. The very first one from that discharge, “Ingen Vill Veta Var Du Kopt Din Troja” (“NO-ONE Wants to Understand Where YOU PURCHASED Your Sweater”), became a shock summer hit, capturing to the very best from the Swedish graphs and keeping that position for many weeks. The group’s second record, Hur Mycket Jag an Tar Finns Alltid Lite Kvar, implemented two years afterwards.
