Raul “El Ruco” Martinez

Accordionist/vocalist Raul “Un Ruco” Martinez was among the early conjunto saving artists, making information for the Falcon and Ideal brands in the later 1940s and 1950s, frequently within Dueto Alegre, with bajo sexto participant and vocalist Juan Gonzalez. Martinez, a nephew from the even more renowned conjunto accordionist Narciso Martinez, was trained how exactly to play by his dad, Santos Martinez, around age five. He fulfilled Gonzalez in Harlingen, TX in 1947, as well as the set created Dueto Alegre. The collaboration split up in 1954, with Gonzalez heading to play with additional groups, in addition to documenting with Flaco Jimenez along with other acts.
