The breezy indie pop music group Rat Columns is headed up by busy Perth, Australia-based musician David Western world. His réamounté includes account in the sound rock-band Total Control, punk group Burning up Feelings, angular post-punkers Rank/Xerox, and electropop group Ribbons Drapes. He’s also released information under his very own name so that as Liberation. Rat Columns acts as the shop for his poppiest, most light-weight songs, sitting somewhere within a far more freewheeling Belle and Sebastian and top period Dinosaur Jr. if indeed they jangled rather than rocked. The initial Rat Columns record, a self-titled 7″, was released in 2011 and was accompanied by the Sceptre Gap album another season. Along with Western world on vocals and guitars, the music group also highlighted Matt Bleyle on drums and Jonathan Youthful on guitar, tips, and vocals. Another couple years had been dominated by various other projects, which intended another Rat Columns information didn’t turn out until 2014 when the “Stay” one and Kelley Stoltz-produced Leaf record had been both released. By this time around, ex-Eddy Current Suppression Band member (and West’s Total Control bandmate) Mikey Little was helping from keyboards and percussion. The group came back in 2015 with two EPs, Perform You Remember Actual Discomfort? and Fooling Around. The band’s lineup experienced shifted by enough time documenting for another recording commenced, and becoming a member of West had been keyboardist Louis Hooper, bassist/vocalist Amber Gempton, and drummer Chris Cobilis. Classes in the tiny Perth suburb of Guildford yielded the next Rat Columns recording, which combined the indie pop of previous recordings with some disco and mild experimentalism. Candle Power premiered in March of 2017 by Upset the Tempo.
