Rangers may be the name from the lo-fi tape collage task performed by Joe Knight. Today based in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, Knight grew up in North Dallas, attaining a like of music from an early on age you start with traditional guitar research. Knight began tinkering with house documenting in 2005, blending heavily prepared live recordings of musical instruments, sampled snippets, muffled vocals, and discovered noises into spacy, moving soundscapes. Rangers produced its documented debut in ’09 2009 with cassette produces for As Above Therefore Below rather than Not Fun, adopted a year later on by Fed up Fortress, a break up EP with Matthew Mondanile’s like-minded PROPERTY solo side task Ducktails. Full-length debut Suburban Trips also found its way to 2010, condensing Knight’s sonic explorations into shorter bursts. For follow-up recording Pan Am Tales the next 12 months, Knight took the contrary approach, this time around offering a dual LP that produced space for the tunes to sprawl where they could.
