b. 7 Apr 1919, Loranie, Ohio, USA. Flanagan performed piano with many local rings during his teenager years, eventually getting pianist-arranger with Sammy Kaye in 1940. He was an associate from the Product owner Marines during Globe Battle II and afterwards provided preparations for Charlie Barnet, Sammy Kaye, Gene Krupa, Blue Barron, Alvino Rey, Tony Pastor and several other rings. He also caused several performers including Mindy Carson and Perry Como. He struck lucky when Natural herb Hendler, who proved helpful for a record label, commissioned him to supply an album specialized in cover variations of Glenn Miller favourites. The ensuing record sold therefore well that whenever Hendler shifted to employment at RCA-Victor Information, he persuaded that business (which owned all of the first Miller experts) release a further paths by Flanagan. This time around, he grafted Miller-style preparations onto material not really formerly from the Miller music group. The ploy paid and the information sold prolifically, stimulating Flanagan to create a full-time orchestra in early 1950 also to consider it from the street. The music group was heavily inspired by Miller, and their vocal group, the Performing Winds, emulated the noises from the Pied Pipers. Flanagan’s music group also boasted an excellent male vocalist called Harry Prime, filling up the Ray Eberle function. Because of this, the music group quickly became one of the primary crowd-pullers for the big-band circuit, strike information arriving with ‘Rag Mop’, ‘Even so’ and ‘Harbour Lighting’ in 1950, accompanied by ‘Decrease Poke’, and his very own composition ‘Popular Toddy’. The achievement of the Flanagan music group sparked off a complete Miller revival, with such previous Miller-men as Ray Anthony and Jerry Grey, plus numerous others who got never even fulfilled Miller, organizing rings that echoed the Miller sound. Many of these imitators steadily faded, although Flanagan was still a dynamic innovator/arranger in the first 60s.
