Ralph Alessi

A solid proponent of the avant-garde jazz picture, trumpeter and occasional bassist Ralph Alessi first began monitoring classical trumpet along with his dad. Growing up within the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Bay Region, Alessi eventually discovered freelance careers with different chamber ensembles in addition to use the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Symphony Orchestra. Through the middle-’80s Alessi went to the California Institute for the Arts where he researched with bassist Charlie Haden and performed with different jazz luminaries, including saxophonist Expenses Perkins and pianist Frank Strazzeri in addition to Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra. In 1990, equipped with a B.F.A. level in jazz trumpet efficiency and an M.F.A. level in jazz bass efficiency, Alessi transferred to NEW YORK. Since that time he provides performed with such longtime collaborators as saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, pianist Uri Caine, and saxophonist Steve Coleman. between 2001 and 2013, Alessi documented ten albums being a head for a number of brands including RKM Music, Clean Supply, BETWEEN YOUR Lines, CAM Jazz, and Whirlwind. Afterwards that calendar year he agreed upon to Manfred Eicher’s ECM label. Baida, his debut there, gained wide acclaim because of its imaginative compositions. He co-led a time for Babel entitled Glucose Edge with Steve Davis and Kris Davis in 2015, and shipped Quiver, his sophomore ECM providing along with his quartet–Nasheet Waits, Drew Gress and Gary Versace in early 2016.
