Rainer Veil

Manchester duo Rainer Veil produced a languid, melancholy design of digital music that took influence from genres as much and varied as ambient drone, dream pop, hip-hop, jungle, U.K. garage area, and techno. Liam Morley and Dan Valentine fulfilled while studying modern music in the north of Britain, and started improvising together, generating drone music, before they strike on a fresh production technique: getting started with fully made up and recognized pop songs that they after that radically reworked, deconstructing and manipulating them into something very different plus much more abstract. Their demonstration caught the hearing of cult label Contemporary Love (house to Andy Stott, Claro Intelecto, and Demdike Stare), which quickly snapped them up. After producing a well-received appearance in the label’s “takeover” from the über-hip Boiler Space golf club in London, in early 2013 they decreased their debut 12″ EP, Struck, which garnered very much critical acclaim. As the music around the launch bore some similarity to Andy Stott’s “knackered home” audio, it had a definite identity of its and was hailed like a brave new path for the label.
