Raina Ray is among Algeria’s most exciting dance rings. While their audio continues to be rooted in the musical customs of their homeland, the music group incorporates affects of blues, rock and roll, and reggae and replaces traditional musical instruments, like the gasba (reed flute) and guellal (drum), with contemporary instrumentation including guitar, saxophone, and tabla drums. Raina Ray’s one “Zina (Pretty Female)” was highlighted in the soundtrack from the film Tchao Pantin.
