Rahn Burton

An excellent pianist who began taking part in professionally in Louisville through the ’50s, Rahn Burton started with Rahsaan Roland Kirk in 1953, and toured with him through the Midwest for six years. Among Kirk’s first Argo albums included a Burton structure. Burton toured with George Adams, playing body organ in the middle-’60s, pursuing engagements in NY, Syracuse, and Louisville, after that worked well in Atlanta with Sirone. Burton rejoined Kirk in the past due ’60s, using him before middle-’70s and producing many recordings. He created his own music group, the African-American Connection, in the first ’70s and continuing going them at numerous points. He performed and documented with Michael Carvin, Stanley Turrentine, Leon Thomas, Carlos Garnett, Hannibal Marvin Peterson, Charlie Rouse, Adams, and Beaver Harris. Rahn Burton passed away in NEW YORK on January 25, 2013, at age 78.
