Raheem Jamal made his name known in Boston’s rap underground both as an MC, co-leading hip-hop crews Electric powered and Task Move, so that as an urban-themed painter and visual designer. Given birth to and bred in Boston, MA, Jamal made a decision to create hip-hop his existence when he was standing up in his mother’s cellar in 1993 along with his friend and eventual Electric powered/Task Move member Anonymous. With Electric powered and Task Move (which is actually Electric powered minus two different people), Jamal helped make the critically acclaimed debuts Life’s challenging (2004) and Like Eliminated Wrong/Butterfly Theory (2006), respectively. Probably the most compliment and support for both crews originated from abroad in European countries and Japan. Although all five of the initial Electric powered members had been still close and operating together, they often times branched off to accomplish their own tasks. Jamal documented his first single record, Boombox (2007), for the Boston-based Brick Information. Endeavoring to recall hip-hop’s heyday of the first ’90s, he proved helpful solely with Boston MC/manufacturer Raydar Ellis, who developed simple, throwback beats for Jamal’s nostalgic and liquid raps.
