Romanian pianist Radu Lupu has enjoyed an outstandingly effective career. Created in the ultimate year of Globe Battle II, he started studies within the piano at age six, and after just six many years of research produced his general public recital debut; this garnered interest in Soviet musical circles and finally got him a scholarship or grant towards the Moscow Conservatory, where he worked well beneath the great Heinrich Neuhaus. In 1966 Lupu received the prestigious Vehicle Cliburn Competition. Generally this type of triumph would move a pianist to forego formal teaching and go on a full-scale professional profession, but Lupu select instead to stay in the conservatory for another couple of years and hone his currently remarkable skills. Only once honored with the very best prize in the Leeds International Piano Competition in 1969 do Lupu disengage himself forever from student existence and occupy the part of touring virtuoso; within the next couple of years he produced appearances in every from the main musical capitals of both European countries and america. As could be said of several of his compatriots, Radu Lupu offers produced a musical house for himself within the wealthy 19th hundred years repertoire — Schubert, Schumann, Beethoven, and Brahms specifically. But he hasn’t hesitated to stray to either part of the self-prescribed pasture — his Mozart contact is glowing when asked (see his chamber collaborations with violinist Szymon Goldberg), and he endows shows of modern works together with an integrity and intelligence not necessarily provided by top-rank virtuosi.
