Radiodervish

Close friends since both attended the equal university or college in Bari, Italy, Palestinian vocalist Nabil Salameh and Italian bassist Michele Lobaccaro initial started the music group Al Darawish in the mid-’80s. In 1997 the duo made a decision to begin a fresh group, Radiodervish, which would explore the customs of both Arabic and Traditional western music. With help from friend and collaborator Alessandro Pipino, who also would perform keyboards for the music group (while several other music artists would add percussion and strings), Radiodervish released their debut, Lingua Contra Lingua, in 1998. Despite the fact that that album received them a Premio Ciampi for Greatest Debut Recording, it wasn’t until 2002, when Centro del Mundo arrived, that this group started to get a lot of worldwide attention (because of Salameh’s 2000 cooperation with Italian pop celebrity Jovannoti around the track “Dolcefarniente,” that they had currently received a good quantity of press and acclaim within their house nation). In 2004 Searching for Simurgh, a task conceived by composer, maker, and performer Saro Cosentino, and influenced by 12th hundred years Sufi poet Farid ad-din Attar’s The Meeting of the Wild birds, was released, implemented two years afterwards by Amara Terra Mia.
