Rachel Ries

Elevated in South Dakota by Mennonite missionaries, singer/songwriter Rachel Ries spent her formative years immersed within an unusual mixture of Congolese spirituals, Mennonite hymns, and the favorite Carpenters tunes of your day. Now located in Vermont, Ries produced her documenting debut in 2005, liberating For You Just, a charming group of soulful acoustic country-inspired folk tunes. Two years later on, she caused experienced engineer Kris Poulin in Chicago on her behalf jazzy, self-produced follow-up, With out a Parrot, released on her behalf newly released label SoDak Information. A break up EP with folksinger Anaïs Mitchell known as Nation E.P. found its way to 2008 on Righteous Babe Information, and Ries devoted her time and energy to touring with Mitchell, Bon Iver, and several other performers. Her involvement using the Chicago theatre community resulted in a Chicago Arts Honor this year 2010 as she continuing to increase her artistic efforts. In 2012, she started documenting her third LP, dealing with maker and Secretly Canadian documenting designer David Vandervelde. Documented in Chicago in the studio lately Wilco guitarist Jay Bennett and having a solid of well-respected visitor players, Ghost of the Gardener premiered in Feb 2014.
