Quarteto de Brasília

The Quarteto de Brasília, a string quartet of classical formation that also interprets popular music, comes with an emphasis in Brazilian music. It had been commissioned by UNESCO to provide the string quartet “Ainsi la Nuit” (Henri Dutilleux) on the Brazilian premiere. The quartet continues to be executing in Brazil and in addition overseas, where it performed in Paris, Toulouse, and Montpelier (France); Gütersloch and Heidelberg (Germany); Baltimore and Washington D.C. (U.S., in the Companions of America task and in the starting from the Music Hill Event); Argentina (Salón Dorado from the Teatro Colón — Buenos Aires and Cordoba), Uruguay, and Paraguay, sponsored from the Brazilian division of international affairs; Asia (Japan, China and Malaysia); and Quito (Ecuador). The quartet received the VII Clear Honours in the traditional category using its 1st launch, Quarteto de Brasília (1993), and was also granted using the Prêmio Okay de Cultura. In 1994, the group released Clássicos da Música Popular Brasileira interpreting Tom Jobim, Gonzaguinha, Pixinguinha, and additional well-known Brazilian composers.
