In early 1964, the Pyramids produced the very best 20 with “Penetration,” the final big nationwide instrumental surf hit, and one of the better of its ilk. The Long Seaside, California group attained some notoriety for shaving their minds just like the United kingdom Invasion was attacking American shores. Their music wasn’t everything that special, though, apart from the majestically modern, haunting groove of their big smash. They disbanded after documenting one album and some non-hit singles, divided between standard browse instrumentals and clunky frat-rock vocal quantities; they also made an appearance in the quickie seaside movie Bikini Seaside.
