Putte Wickman

Putte Wickman was created on Sept 10, 1924, in the Swedish city of Falun. He discovered the clarinet, and by enough time he still left college he was prepared for a specialist profession in Sweden. When he began, bebop was simply becoming the trend, and he modified very easily. He performed with Simon Brehm and Charlie Norman for an interval, but eventually transferred from his own to start out his very own gospel/jazz group with pianist Reinhold Svensson. Both performed jointly in Stockholm before middle-’50s, when Wickman slipped off to try out with many other jazz performers and lead a huge band on the Stockholm Grand Resort. He caused Jimmy Raney, Lars Gullin, and Svend Asmussen until finally he attempted his luck in america, landing in NEW YORK in 1959. He performed in the us for a long period, showing up at Carnegie Hall among other areas. He started touring internationally in the ’70s, mainly as a single act. With the ’90s, he had not been just still playing live but documenting again, appearing on the Swedish Jazz Celebration among various other engagements.
