Biography
The free jazz quartet Psychic Warrior included several veterans from the Uk jazz scene, probably the most renowned of these getting saxophonist Elton Dean. Also within the group had been keyboardist Alex Maguire, who got caused Dean in a number of other configurations, and wrote a lot of the materials on Psychic Warrior’s initial record; bassist Fred Baker, who’d used Maguire in Pip Pyle’s Bash!; and drummer Liam Genockey, who’d used Paul Brady, Gerry Rafferty, Robert Wyatt, among others. Their self-titled debut LP, released in 2004, shown instrumental jazz fusion that mixed from the fairly serene (for the paths offering Maguire on Fender Rhodes electrical piano) to, additionally, the daring and freewheeling, with Maguire’s unsettling Hammond body organ going for a prominent role.
