The Czech rock group Psí Vojáci is among the major acts that were only available in the underground through the Communist regime and became successful following its fall in 1989. The group is certainly dominated by songwriter, vocalist, and pianist Filip Topol, a charismatic personality who shares commonalities with English vocalist Peter Hammill, both in his composing of literate however powerful art music, and in his stage delivery. Drummer David Skála and bassist Jan Hazuka produced the primary of the group from its origins up to the first ‘90s, once the last mentioned still left and was changed by Ludek Horky.
