The Swedish dark metallic band Prophanity was shaped in 1991 by singer Mathias “Farbaute” Järrebring and guitarist Christer “Grendel” Olsson; after some name and line-up adjustments the group started to solidify in 1993 with the help of drummer Anders “Wouthan” Malmström, and early the next year they documented their first demonstration. A subsequent demonstration titled Messenger from the North Warrior Host quickly followed, generating significant underground interest; a monitor was also presented around the “Occasionally Death is way better 2, 3 & 4 compilation. After liberating the solitary “I Vargens Tecken (In the hallmark of the Wolf),” Prophanity’s rates grew to add bassist Robert Lindmark and guitarist Nicklas Magnusson, and in the fall months of 1996 the group documented the three-song The Battleroar. After liberating the 1998 LP MORE POWERFUL THAN Steel, Järrebring remaining Prophanity, and was changed by vocalist Carl-Johan Sörman.
