Professional Seagulls

Shaped in Nigeria, this group, led by Prince David Bull, produced their name as the support group to highlife artist Rex Lawson. When Lawson passed away in 1976, his Lagos-based sidemen continuing in his lack, renaming themselves the Professional Seagulls. They disappointed few acquainted with Lawson’s special vocal stamp, staying tightly in the highlife custom despite its near disappearance following increased reputation of fuji and juju music. They maintained one strike in the first 80s, ‘Soko Soko’, and also have remained energetic since.
