Washington, D.C.-structured post-punk quartet Priests shaped in past due 2011, creating raucous blasts of loud, politically billed punk fronted by vocalist Katie Alice Greer with guitarist G.L. Jaguar, drummer Daniele Daniele, and bassist Taylor Mulitz. The task was the initial musical venture for some from the players (though both Greer and Daniele would afterwards sign up for the revolving-door cast of fellow D.C. punk intellectuals String & the Gang), as well as the recently shaped Priests quickly documented a demo-like cassette and started touring, initial locally and across the Expresses, quickly attaining a reputation because of their frenetic live present. A 7″ one, another cassette, and some compilation appearances adopted prior to the 2014 introduction of mini-album Body and Control and Cash and Power, that was documented with creation help from Dark Eye member Hugh McElroy. The band’s 2017 debut recording, Nothing Feels Organic, found Priests managing their outbursts with a far more eclectic — and forceful — strategy.
