Originally referred to as Viet Cong just before changing their name in 2015, Preoccupations play a clever, expressive fusion of art rock and lo-fi pop that maintains an extremely human pulse regardless of the extensive usage of electronics and noise. The music group was created in 2012 by Matt Flegel and Scott Munro, two music artists from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Flegel was an associate from the famous Calgary indie rock-band Women, who’d split up almost a year prior, while Munro experienced formerly played acoustic guitar with Lab Coastline. While touring European countries within Chad VanGaalen’s support music group, Flegel and Munro started working up suggestions for songs, so when they found out about the loss of life of Ladies guitarist Christopher Reimer, they recognized it was period to start a fresh project instead of looking forward to something easier to arrive. With Munro on acoustic guitar and Flegel on bass, both invited former Ladies drummer Mike Wallace to guy the drum package, and Danny Christiansen, who experienced caused Flegel and Wallace inside a Dark Sabbath tribute take action, came up to speed as guitarist. In 2013, they released a four-song cassette cleverly entitled Cassette that they offered at their displays during a UNITED STATES tour with Freak Warmth Waves; two from the songs from your cassette had been reissued as an individual from the Canadian indie label Flemish Vision, and an extended seven-song version from the tape was pressed like a 12″ vinyl fabric EP by Mexican Summer time in america. In January 2015, Viet Cong released their self-titled debut recording. Citing issues that their name may be offensive for some listeners, that Apr the bandmembers announced that they had transformed their name to Preoccupations. Their 1st recording under that name was another self-titled work that made an appearance in Sept 2016.
